Entre Flores y Espinas

Entre Flores y Espinas is a compelling mixed-media collection by Puerto Rican artist Gladiola Sotomayor that explores the delicate interplay of beauty and adversity, femininity and resilience. Presented at Museum Casa Portela during International Women’s Month, the series uses acrylic, textile, and sculptural elements to reflect on the complex, layered experiences of women across generations and life stages.

Through vivid imagery of flowers and thorns, maternal figures, aging, childhood, and historical struggle, Sotomayor transforms personal and collective narratives into universal stories of perseverance and hope. Each work combines tactile textures, symbolic motifs, and painterly gestures, inviting collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts to connect with the timeless and transformative aspects of the female experience.

Ideal for private collectors, museum acquisitions, and galleries seeking Latin American contemporary art that bridges conceptual depth with visual elegance.
