Fibra Viva: Arte y Tradición

Fibra Viva honors the legacy of the women who, generation after generation, have passed down the art of weaving, macramé, bobbin lace, and sewing. These techniques—more than craft—are threads that connect our history, tradition, and Puerto Rican cultural heritage, transcending the domestic sphere to become living artistic expressions.

In this exhibition, thread and fiber not only adorn but also integrate as visual languages that translate emotions and identities. Their presence goes beyond the utilitarian, entering contemporary art as symbols of memory and resistance.

The works presented—paintings, sculptures, and three-dimensional pieces—highlight how textiles are transformed into essential artistic material. Living Fiber celebrates the evolution of these practices, showing how they converse with other media without losing their traditional value. Each fiber holds a story; each stitch, a legacy.
